Credit Card Aggravation

Hi. I reported my credit card lost on the 16/01/2014 and was issued a replacement on the 24/01/2014 when I picked it up and activated it. I went about my business and tried using the card for a purchase and it was declined. Thinking nothing off it I decided to give it 3 days to "log on" the system. After 3 days tried using it again and it was declined. I phoned the credit card dept of ABSA. They confirmed that the card was active and there were no stops due to account, credit limit or authorisation. She said it must be their machine. So I decided to use it in another store and the same thing happened. DECLINED! Peeved, embarrassed and waiting on the phone going through the voice prompts for the second time, answering the same security questions again, was told there is nothing wrong with the card and there is now a problem with standard bank machines except the first was nedbank. Took the card in to the local branch, standing in line for another 25mins, Checks the card told again nothings wrong... THEN WHY IS IT DECLINING! Re-did the password and told to retry the card today... guess what? Its still declining and worse when im trying to buy groceries making me look like a fool.
