I have been banking with ABSA for nearly 30 years.
The nature of my business is that it has irregular cash flow- I transferred funds into my ABSA Savings account 5 days ago. When I went online to pay accounts, I could not log in. When I called for help, my account has been suspended for R73! that is R73, NOT R730 OR R7300! She tells me it takes 36 hours to reactivate it. If I go into my local branch, they can do it immediately. There is a catch however, the last time I was in my local branch, it took nearly 2 hours. That is exactly why I got internet banking! This is a joke, surely?
If I had not called the helpline, my account would have stayed suspended indefinitely!!!
I am really angry about this and am going to close all my ABSA accounts, and change to a bank where customer service is a priority, not a chore
