UNAUTHORISED TRANSUNION CREDIT SEARCH

I discovered last week that FNB Quickcheck with contact number 011-3529602 did a Transunion credit search on me on 13 March 2013, which I did not authorise. I tried to contact the number but could not get through. Telkom confirmed that the number belongs to FNB but is only for outgoing calls. On FNB's website there are almost 80 call centre telephone numbers listed, none for complaints, so I contacted the FNB line. I was put through from one department to the next and after about 2 hours Mr Sibusiso Kumalo in the Department (tel 0875759444) agreed to investigate the matter and log a complaint. He informed me that FNB will revert back to me within 3 days. The 3 days expired yesterday and I therefore tried to follow up on the matter up with FNB today. Mr Kumalo did not return my call and 2 other staff members put me through to the Complaints Department, which had a voice mail box that was full and I was unable to leave a message. I have no accounts with FNB and did not apply for any product with FNB. It is unlawful to do a credit search without obtaining permission from the consumer concerned and I expect of FNB to provide me with full details.
