So I have been a client of ABSA for almost 8 years. Had a loan that was paid off last year, ran into issues and approached them for a new loan (quite smaller that the previous one). Over the phone I was conditionally approved but then some assessor decides I won't be able to repay the much smaller load. BTW I haven't missed a single payment on the previous one. I haven't heard back from them in 5 days since applying over the phone. I called back and was told "Oh sorry the loan was declined". Reason affordability?? But I guess I am not good enough to be informed about the unsuccessful application either. The assessor apparently took my 3 payslips, saw basic on there and used that to determine my salary. I earn a fixed travel allowance that wasn't incorporated into the maths as well as a fixed standby allowance. So I guess ABSA won't see another cent in interest from me EVER again. Nice way to treat some loyal customers ABSA - Well Done
