Standard Bank
Discrimination against women on maternity

I had applied for a home loan in June 2013, I was purchasing a property that was subdivided. I was granted the home loan. Becoz I queried the interest rate I was advised by my personal banker to cancel the first application and that she will recapture the application, this happened in November, I had since returned to work fro maternity leave. I then received the news that the application has been denied because I had not received a salary in September and that my commission amount was not reflecting. I explained what our maternity leave policy was and they recaptured the application THREE Times still telling me it was a technicality. It is now January and still this is going on, someone in credit has decided that I cannot afford the loan but they cannot explain how it was granted to be in the first place in June.

Std banks customer resolution department has done nothing about it. I have been their client for 12 years have no judgements and is not in debt. I am to say the least frustrated and Disappointed I will close my account and reapply with another bank that is understanding and sees the bigger picture, I was on Maternity not unemployed!!!
