First National Bank
Discrimination against woman on maternity leave

I applied for a loan via the website and was asked to go into a branch to verify my details. I went in on the 31st December to the Sunninghill branch and submitted my documents. I explained to the consultant (Julie Nkadimeng) that I was on unpaid maternity leave and therefore I do not have a recent payslip but provided my salary increase and bonus letter that was paid into my bank account in December '13. I called the personal loans division on the 2nd January for a follow up on the status and they advised me that the application is pending decline due to the fact that they cannot prove my salary, I explained to them that I was on unpaid maternity leave and that I gave the branch the relevant documentation. They said i must go back to the branch so that the branch can make a note of it. I went back to the branch and Julie called the loan division to make a note, which after doing so they still declined stating that they can't prove my salary. I have provided all my details including my salary increase letter and bonus letter but FNB refuses to accept this as proof, I am only returning to work now in January 2014.I don't understand why FNB can't accept my documentation as proof
