I applied for a Standard Bank Home Loan of R530 000 on the 17th of Dec 2013 over the phone. As much as I'm a staff member of STD bank I repeatedly asked the consultant assisting me whether I should put my parents as joints applicants or surety as I knew that there is a possibility of not being approved cause of my monthly salary. The consultant assured me that should I put them as surety there will be a high chance of me getting 100% bond approval. Immediately after we finished the call I sent all the required docs including my parent's. On Wed the 18th I received a call to say that they did not receive my Mom's bank statement (which I already sent). To make sure that my app should not be put on hold I quickly resent it. On the 19th of Dec I received an E-mail saying that my Mom's bank statement has been received but it's invalid. I called their call centre to find out why is it invalid cause when I checked it there was a required full 3 months bank statement. After such a confrontation with the consultant he did agree with me that the bank statement is valid.
