2 years ago I voluntarily underwent debt counselling for a short period to bring my finances into order. After 6 months I paid off all of my debtors in full which included credit cards from FNB. Currently I am in no financial difficulties and have a good credit rating. I popped into an FNB branch to ask a financial planner (in the private client division) around the best options to consolidate some current debt to improve my cash flow position as I am considering buying a house. The consultant could not even bring up options for a loan as the loan department still and me listed as under debt review.
A similar thing happened a year when I was re-organising my accounts after debt counselling: The legal department had neglected to inform other departments that I had paid off all of my debt in full and had moved from debt counselling. Despite the irritation I am livid at the time wasted by a department not following a simple procedure. On inquiry I was told I need to source my documentation from 2 years ago to provide to the loans department (I submitted this to various departments on multiple occasions).
This is something that should be organised within the company itself.
