Paid off account still showing after 3 years

I had a discovery credit card, I paid off the debt on the card years ago and closed the account, if I try make a loan at FNB, it shows that I still have debt on the discovery card. I have been to the branch, they cannot help me, tried to get hold of FNB legal department, the people I spoke to there are incompetent and pass the buck back to discovery card. discovery card says that they have submitted the proof of final payment to FNB. I am stuck in the middle.
