We went on Honeymoon to Phuket and Phi Phi.
We were 4 that went, 2 couples that are best friends.
Both myself and my pal bank with Standard Bank, we asked then what we need to do and had our ATM Cheque Cards activated to work in Thailand.
We gave them the dates as well as emailed then the Hotel Details with tel numbers etc.
Halfway through our trip we went from Phuket to Phi Phi (Where there are NO ATMs) and the day before leaving for Phi Phi BOT our cards were stopped. (When back in SA we received an SMS saying "suspected "...
I tried phoning the International number on the back of the card, NOBODY PICKED UP... just some cheesy music and a lady saying "Your call is important to us.."
Standard bank didn't even bother to phone our hotel to ask if we though our cards were used.
We had to spend our 5 days in Phi Phi with the cash we had in our pockets.. we had our incl buffet breakfast and a burger each for 5 days..
We had to look on at all the other people enjoying the bars, jet skis, boat trips as we had enough cash to buy 4 burgers a day
Coming back to SA, STD BANK PE (Greenacres manager VIKI) simply said "We are sorry to lose you as a customer"
