Before I left Stellenbosch on a four month sabbatical abroad I made sure my bank accounts were up to date and sorted out. As I received an sms from Standard Bank to have my business account FICAed, again, I went in to the Neelsie Branch, spoke to Garteh and sorted it out. Now I am in Scotland and not only has my atm card stopped working but Standard Bank has removed my account from my internet banking profile so that I can not even see what is going on there. This, after I have been a loyal customer for 15 years and have paid them thousands of rands in banking fees.
Why are South African banks so blas? about their service to long-time clients?
