On 15 November 2013 I lodged a building related claim with Outsurance after strong wind caused a tree to fall on my house. Damage to my house is minimal (One roof sheet and the facial board). Further to this the tree had to be removed as it was lying on the house but stable. Outsurance appointed Egen Maintenance to do the repairs and to remove the tree. Egen Maintenance DEMANDED that I pay the excess amount of R2020.00 before they would start any work. I paid the R2020, 00 via EFT on 27 November 2013. Today is the 23rd December 2013 and NOTHING has been done so far. Numerous follow-up calls to outsurance resulted only in Egen Maintance calling me and making excuses and yet only empty promises. I should mention that they only honoured one appointment and when they arrived at my house they could not proceed with the work as it had rained the previous night and the roof was wet. After that first appointment, they never pitched up again. I've had it with them and now I'm stuck with them as I paid them the excess amount as they DEMANDED. Surely, Outsurance should protect their clients against these type of abuse and non-performance by the companies they contracted. Its bad for business.
