On the 01st of November 2013, I had the unfortunate reality of driving along a road in Townsview. On that day, a certain Ms Afonso also happened to be driving on a minor road that formed a T-junction with the major road I was on. With clear yield signs, Ms Afonso failed to stop but proceeded right onto my path. The inevitable happened. In as much as SANTAM have come out guns blazing accusing me of having failed to prevent the collision; I take pride in the fact that I avoided possible fatalities for both drivers. To top the comedic story, SANTAM is refusing payment to me saying that I should have seen that their insured was likely to enter the road and therefore have stopped myself. Because I did not do that, I therefore contributed to the accident. I am being offered a settlement nowhere near getting my to the state it was in before the loss. I am being bullied and told to 'go to court if I dim fit and see if I will succeed' (Santam's rep's exact words).
