Wake up!!!

I had a policy with FFW insuring my Scenic, I notified them in Nov 2010, that I would be selling the car and purchasing a new one. So far not a problem.
Changed banks at the beginning of 2013, not a problem, debit orders going off, reflected on my account.
4Dec 2013 - I get a SMS on my cell, informing me that a debit order was not honored? Have facility on my cell informing me of movement on my account, went through it, ALL debit orders are paid, phoned the number they gave. And guess what it's the policy for the scenic!!! 10 months AFTER I changed my banking details and just over 3 YRS since I bought the new car, and have been paying faithfully ever since, they NOW want to tell me that the account hasn't been paid. I want to know (a) why it was not cancelled when the new account was created.
(B) has it taken so long to wake up to the fact that the account hadn't been paid, and were they expecting me to pay 3yrs of payments??? Sort out this mess and ensure my current account is the only one I have or I will look for another insurer.
