Nedbank
Return of debit orders long after they were paid

At the January month end, my account did not have sufficient funds, resulting in Ned bank returning all my debit orders. This is acceptable as I did not have money in my account. They did not contact me at all.
Three debit orders under R50 each were returned and I was debited with R120 each for this. As a result of there dishonour charges, my account was now heavily overdrawn. I got an SMS to rectify my account. Lo and behold, before a deposit could reach the account, they returned more debit orders on 8/2/2013.
One for life insurance which went through on 21/1/2013 and my vehicle insurance which went through on
2/1/2013. Surely it is against some ruling that you can't return a debit order after 5 weeks. You can't stop payment of a debit order after it has gone through.
I now sit with a cancelled motor insurance because Nedbank saw fit to send back paper long after it was paid, merely to cover their charges.
I've been banking with them since 1993 or 94. I've always had praise for Nedbank, but this has drastically changed my view of them. There is no more personal contact with the bank staff.
