Extremely unhappy with Santam's business ethics

Claim no 166180147: My car (2.0l Tiguan Diesel Auto 2012 model) was extensively damaged by hail on 28/11/2013. Based on the quotations that I received the repair cost will be in the region of R34000 to R36000. The panel beating company whose quote I accepted and who is an accredited Santam service provider and who has an excellent reputation in the industry took my car to the Menlyn Drive-in centre for the assessors (Riaan) to assess. I have just learnt that Riaan has deemed it fitting and fair to only pay R15 000 towards the repair for my vehicle. My car is comprehensively ensured for R341 000 and my policy is paid-up for the year. R15 000 is not even half of what it will cost me to repair the vehicle and the panel beaters are not willing to touch my car AT ALL for that amount. The quoted repair cost is just and fair. It is impossible for me to get the vehicle to the pristine state in which it was prior to the damage for this amount. My ability to sell the car for a fair price is also now badly affected and I cannot afford to cover the balance of the cost myself. Is this the way that Santam conducts itself and is this not a situation that an Ombudsman should be made aware of?
