I phoned Outsurance today very excited to update my physical address for my vehicle as it was now in a more secure location thinking my premium would decrease as my car is now safer. I was told me premium is going to be increased because I am staying in a 'high risk' area. I don't want to complain so much about the service but more the way in which the premiums are calculated. Perhaps you can look at the individual's risk profile rather than base the profile purely on the area. I was in a 'less riskier' area before but my car was standing outside and the location of the parking was above an informal settlement which we all know is often times riddled with crime, drugs, etc. I have since moved into a security complex that has a remote controlled security gate or tag system to get into, that has cameras located all around the parking area. I have also paid for a garage to park my vehicle into, yet my premium has increased! It just doesn't make sense. Not only has my premium been increased now in December but my rebate date is in February which means another increase is due. I am a young single professional who deliberately paid for a garage and this location thinking it was safer.
