On the 14th Nov I had my car towed to a workshop in Edenvale after a big stone/rock bounced infront of me and came up hitting the engine from underneath. I called in to put through a claim and was told it would take 5 days to get the car assessed. this was not done and after numerous follow ups, eventually I got a call from an assessor yesterday 4th Dec saying there was no damage to the engine, I explained to him that immediately after the accident, the engine started smoking hence the need to be towed. I asked if he did drive the car around to get the temperature going so he can correctly assess the engine. this was not done as he said he only idled the car, he also did not indicate for how long!!! he also went on to say there were normal oil leakages and the engine was very dirty which is shocking as my car never had any leakages and the engine was just thoroughly cleaned a week earlier at Fury Rivonia where it was serviced!!! obviously his job is to protect the insurer and minimize pay outs, hence because his assessment is less than R5000 the insurer will not be paying!!! now I am left with a car that has an engine problem and the insurer tells me otherwise!
