I contacted Investec on behalf of my Father, who is of an advanced age, he had a portfolio of shares which he wished to sell, but of because of an injury his current signature did not resemble the one on file. I went to see them with new specimen signatures, medical reports and some cheques cashed by his bank with the new signature. the response was that a power of attorney signed in my favour was required which I supplied but it was rejected and a more recent one was requested even though I had taken pains to explain the situation. the shares were eventually sold and the cash deposited into his bank account but a balance of R 100.00 was still outstanding although I had requested that the account be closed. After several emails some more documentation was requested which I supplied and was acknowledged however the matter is still not settled and I get the same request at 3 monthly intervals. Email responses to the mail goes into the general client ledger so the issue is never resolved it just goes round and round much to my irritation and one may as well be dealing with a machine rather than a human.
