I have a shop in a botanical Garden, in Betty's Bay, which was severely damaged in the floods 16/11/13.Luckily I did not have too much damage to stock. I cancel my claim as the excess was higher than the damage! Because of the severe damage to the botanical Garden with a big donga created by the flood waters, at the entrance and in the car park, the Garden had to close to the public as it was unsafe! For a week while the garden was closed I could not trade. I asked to put in a claim for loss of earnings but this was rejected!!! As this was specifically what I asked Outsurance to insure me for I asked them to refer back to my original conversation when I approached them to insure me. After much frustration and much questioning of my policy Isabel asked me to submit a record of takings and fixed expenses which I did same day - 27/11/13. To date I still have not had even an acknowledgement of my submission. How much longer do I need to wait? This has been going on now for 2 weeks??
According to their ads, i expected them to arrive and erect a temporary shack for me from which to trade while Garden was closed.
