Yesterday I received an sms from Miway telling me tha tI would be getting weather reports from them - not sure why all I need to do is look out of the window and I can see what the weather is.
To opt out of receiving these sms's which I never signed up to in the first place, I needed to reply stop and I would be charged premium sms rates to do so.
Why must I pay anything to stop receiving spam sms's that I never signed up for? Is this a bigger with the cellphone networks?
Luckily Vodacom has a report spam on their website so I have requested this number to be blocked from sending me sms's, but I shouldn't have to go to all of this effort.
If you want to opt out, it should be a free service to the customer paid for by Miway.
The good thing about email is that if you set your settings to high, you only receive mails from people in your address book and the rest goes into junk (which I do check weekly), if only cellphones could do the same
Regards
Amanda
