We cancelled our discovery life policy WITH IMMEDIATE effect at the END of October 2013.
I got no response, and when I phoned Discovery to follow up - I was told they suddenly have a "30day notice period'
No financial institution in South Africa regarding Life policies has a '30 day notice policy' as such. You pay for your life insurance UPFRONT??? so why do you need to give 30 days notice?? JUST FOR DISCOVERY TO THE LAST FEW PENNIES OUT OF YOUR POCKET AFTER YOU LEAVE!! I'm very disappointed. Have been a long-standing client of discovery over the years. The debit order for November has gone off my bank account on 1Nov. I expect Discovery to pay that money back to me!!
After this we are also considering moving our Medical Aid - a company just being greedy is not something we want to be associated with!!
