I went under debt review a couple of years back. Everything is paid up now. When ABSA was asked for a paid up letter they insisted that I close my cheque account. Apparently, the people who handled my debt counselling AS WELL AS the bank should have informed me about this. They didn't. Now there is money that should be refunded to me, but the refuse to pay it over before the account is closed. When I asked them why NOW, I got no response. I've been struggling with this for weeks now and no one wants to give me a straight answer. This is PATHETIC! Why must I close my account after all this time? If they sliped up, why should I pay for their mistakes. I've been an ABSA customer all my life, but that doesn't seem to mean anything to them. I've had it with this bank!!! They just don't care how much inconvenience they cause for their clients. They just don't care!!!
