FNB debits acc without permission or prior notice

On Monday 28 October I received notification on my phone that an amount of R 2 970.00 had been transferred via EFT to FNB - I am an FNB account holder. On calling card collections, I was told that this was due to an old account which is in arrears. Fair enough, I am not denying the fact that I owe on my old credit card. However, I was shocked to discover that they had debited my account without any prior notice or any arrangements in place, and WITHOUT checking affordability! FNB then referred me to their attorneys and placed the responsibility firmly in their hands. On contacting the attorneys (who have been nothing but helpful), I was told that they do not even have my current account details and that FNB had debited my account! I have sent countless emails, made countless calls and I am still almost R 3 000.00 out of pocket! My debit orders run tonight and as I am now R 3 000.00 short, I have no doubt that some of them will be returned. FNB, after banking with you for well over fifteen years, I am disappointed and appalled at the manner in which you have dealt with this matter!
