A gentleman who works for our company was the victim of ATM crime.
He went to a Standard Bank ATM in Wynberg to withdraw money with his Standard Bank card. The transaction was cancelled and his card was never returned to him from the ATM. After waiting for 20 minutes for his card to be returned, he left the ATM - cardless. A few minutes later he received an SMS stating that an amount had been withdrawn from his account.
He reported the incident to Standard Bank. After the given waiting period, Standard Bank returned to say that they would NOT be refunding him his money as he "compromised his pin".
In no way had he compromised his pin. If Standard Bank feels it can make such allegations, I call on them to provide CCTV footage to prove so.
