So I waited 24 HRS since I called and requested an E Mail for claim rejection. I logged a claim 18 January 2013 for cracks appearing on my walls. Only noticed this as a friend told me to check the pool water level and see if it drops. After 2 days, water level drops 2cm. I am not a plumber / builder so I would not know what to look for as faults on a house as this is the first time I purchased a home. I was told it is due to rising damp over a span of 10 years. I have been in this house 9 years. Is it my duty to go through the house before I purchase to look for faults like these? Does an insurance company not do the assessment before accepting you for insurance? I have since emptied the pool and the damp is drying up. I had to call today 28 January 2013 to do a follow up. Now if the pool is causing the rising damp in the house, this will eventually cause more damage to the house structure and will eventually cost double to repair if left for another 5-10 years. ABSA website shows concealed and unconcealed water pipes are covered in insurance. Damp is caused by water which is either a water pipe.
