Account Handed Over after being paid

My wife's MTN card was excluded from a Debt Review Application in 2009. I made payment arrangements on the account and have been paying this account without fail every single month. On three occasions i contacted Std Bank to establish the balance but without any luck. Yesterday I received a Final Demand from Bham Dahya attorneys for an unpaid account. I contacted them to understand why the account was handed over and I was informed that no payment was made since Sep 2009. I forwarded all my proof of payments to them - amounting to R14100.00. This means that the account was paid almost three times over. Who will rectify this? Who will refund me the over payment? When you contact Customer Service you have to use the automated service and you cannot get through to an agent. When you contact the number the branch gives - same thing. I do not know where to turn and who will resolve this but if I can get a final demand for payments not made that was made - then surely I can make a final demand for my refund?! If Std Bank was of the opinion that I did not pay my account - why in 4 years' time did they not contact me at all??
