I have had this credit card for almost six years and have not really needed it any more. I enquired about the outstanding balance at the end of August and was given a quote as well as an account number for purposes of paying the small, outstanding amount of just over R200. For the past three weeks O have been sending emails asking for confirmation as to whether the account has now been closed. Every email is always followed by an automated response and then a vague promise to "search for the payment." Well today I received a statement reflecting the payment (which means that someone did allocate the money) but oh joy, I now have to pay R1, 93. And still the account is open! Why is it impossible to get rid of a financial product? I would love to know what the extra two rand is for, probably credit insurance or some other hidden charge? I am fed up with Virgin Money's illiterate operators and will now also complain to the National Credit Regulator. I need confirmation that the account is closed and I need an apology.
