I recently opened a bank account with Absa. The Platinum account says you qualify for a personal banker and they would switch my debt orders for free. I emailed the debit order switching form to the banker who helped open my account on the 24/07/2013. The Banker then told me to keep this account open for at least 2 months as not all companies allow switching. The following month however, none of the debt orders were switched until. When I enquired at the branch, I was informed that no debt order form was received and had to resend. This was emailed to the general email address on 23/09/2013 and. -R868 later my debtors switched seamlessly, however this was I had called all the companies debiting my account and personally requested them to be switched except for 3 companies which Absa switched. This was a costly exercise and this product did not live up to what it said it would do. I am very unhappy I had debt orders bouncing off my old account at my cost because my form was not sent as promised.
