My bond repayment is scheduled to go off by debit order on the 5th every month. September did not go off and ABSA contacted me to let me know they had a system error so the debit order was processed on the 10th instead. In true ABSA fashion, the same debit order was processed again on the 20th. According to ABSA I am related to the Oppenheimers and have no problem with donating an additional R7500 on any day of the month. I have been struggling since last week Wednesday to get my money back. In the meantime, my regular debit orders went off yesterday and I did not have sufficient funds and my cheque account went into overdraft resulting in additional banking fees. I had to make phone call upon phone call for the last week to get this sorted out, I still not have my money back! I am fed up with this bank, ABSA must be the most pathetic and most arrogant banking institution in SA.
