I lodged a claim with Standard Bank insurance on Monday 9 September 2013 for a burst pipe in my kitchen ceiling. I was told that 3 contractors had to be assigned: carpenter to remove the built-in cupboards, the plumbers to fix the pipes and finally builders to replace the ceiling. The carpenters only arrived late afternoon. This meant that the plumbers could only fix the pipes on Monday 16 September (they apparently dont work on weekends). This means that for a whole week I had water dripping from my ceiling in the kitchen onto the built-in stove! The repairs were completed on monday and the builders were supposed to assess the damage on tuesday and start on wednesday (it takes a whole day to assess!) but after the assessment they have not returned to fix the ceiling. I have called standard bank on many, many occasions during this time and the best they can come up with is that they will get the contractors to call me, but they never do. Really?!
I am heading into another weekend with my kitchen in a mess! there seems to be nothing I can do because calling Standard bank to do their jobs properly is not working.
No wonder all their clients are heading to FNB, me included!
