I am a Zimbabwen national on a 4 year work permit. I personally bank with FNB, have a Cheque account with them. I have registered a business here in South Africa using my work permit but I was shocked when FNB refused to open a business bank account for me. They say I need to have a business permit!!!As far as i know, you need to have a business to get a business permit in SA and that business needs to be operational, i find it baffling that i am required to have a business permit before i even operate a business. I need to prove to Home affairs that I have an operational business to qualify for a business permit, how do i achieve that without a business account? Can FNB please clarify this rule for me, i havent tried other banks though, if its standard rule then please excuse my ignorance.
