My brother in law lives temporally in the UK and has had an account with Absa since 1987. (26 years) he receives an annuity sum which was paid each month but now is done annually. He had internet banking and advised Absa of all changes through the net. Over the past 6 months he has only paid costs and inadvertantly did not cover the costs and the account went R51.86 into OD. A letter was sent to me (his brother in law) stating that if the costs were not paid in 14days from the date of the letter they would close the account. AFTER 26 YEARS OF LOYAL SUPPORT!! Amazing. The letter was delayed by postal services and I received onb the 15th day. You said it. The account was closed and the branch refused to reopen it saying that i must open a new one. I explained that it was not possible as the person lived in the UK. Sorry cant help. Account is closed.
I would move the account for if 26 years support means this to Absa then it deserves to be moved! However the rand annuity needs to be paid into this account so it needs to be opened otherwise R45, 000 is going into space!! Can someone help!!
