I was involved in a car accident on the 09-07-2013 at 7am on my way to work and my car was written off. i submitted my claim to alexander forbes and two weeks later i find out that my claim was not submitted to the claims department so it delayed my claim by 2 weeks. then i get an email saying they cannot attend to my claim until they have the results of the blood test and that i should collect my car within the next two days from the salvage yard for they will not be laible for anymore charges, i found out from the investigating officer that it can take up to 9 months to get the results of the blood test. Nowhere in my insurance policy does it state that should blood test be taken after an accident they will not see to the claim until they have the blood test results. a friend of mine had an accident and blood tests where also taken but his insurance company settled without the results of the blood test so this tells me it cannot be standard practice amoungst insurance companies. i have given them as much information and contact details to prove that i was not under the infuence but that have just ignored that information and refuse to settle. worst is i dont even drink alcohol!
