7 years without a claim! minor accident with an exorbitant repair quote. Accident happened 28.7.2013, car towed to incorrect place for assessment-(12 days delay) parts where delayed for 8 days for a VW polo 1.6 manufactured in SA (none of the parts in the quote are original VW supply. I had to pay increased premiums to extend rental vehicle. A mag wheel was damaged and could not be sourced so a set of new wheels were included in the assessment and quote provided, of lesser value of the set on the car. Here is the real racket exposed: could only select a replacement set less 23% than the quoted replacement. This is a tidy margin that the repairer claim as their markup. I wonder if all the parts which I assume have some preferential supplied discounts have such material kickback value also. the repairer TC panel beaters, Wynberg, suggested that write off the wheels in lieu of the access? How the does this work? This bombshell was left to the 28th Aug when collection was expected and the rental car returned - still without my car!!
