I applied for the Pension Surplus last year in August. I was told it would take about 8 to 12 weeks.
I enquired in December of last year and was told that they are backlogged and I should contact them again in January 2013.
I have subsequently tried them no end and have reached an engaged tone consistently:0867 277007
Today I called the Cape Town Branch and a lady provided me with an additional number: 0861 504455, this number initially rang for a lengthy time then went to an automated answering service.
I then Googled the organization and found additional numbers to call: 011 870 2000 and 0860 10 25 44, which did exactly as the 0861 number!
Nowhere is there any contact person whom you can call to assist with this. I am at my wit's end trying to figure out why this is happening!
