What am I paying a membership fee for?

I contacted the Benoni branch on 9 July. A man whom I paid close to R18K to commence renovations on the 8 July did not fulfil his obligation and has taken my money. I supplied the paperwork to Trevor at Benoni Legalwise. They sent an email to the man on 11 July-the first of which was completely incorrect (and embarrassing). Two weeks later I called and was told that Trevor had gone back to head office. I then dealt with Alex who told me that he does have the time to spend 2 hours on the phone listening to the man (the artist who my money). There is a record of this complaint I lodged with Legalwise customer services. On 8 August Pule (Branch Manager) arranged a meeting with myself and Polo (supervisor). I was grateful that she was able to arrange a meeting with the attorney the same day. The attorney advised me that he would submit my papers to Legalwise claims department for processing. Today is the 26 August-I contacted Polo to follow up with claims dept - I was told by her they no longer have my file-I either contact the attorney or claims myself. I'd like to know what it is that I am paying for every month? I am certainly not paying for service!
