Standard Bank U count announces with big fanfare that I can get one rand back for every litre of fuel purchased at Caltex forecourts. But this is misleading.
When I registered, I looked through the terms and conditions, expecting a catch. No catches. Cards are defined, purchases for cards are elegible.
So for a month and a half, my wife and I fill up only at Caltex using our garage cards as normal. End of month comes, NO Rewards!
On querying it, oh no, this is not valid for Garage Card Purchases! The lady (Natasha) navigates me through a few pages to the Terms and Conditions, and there is a statement that Blue Bean and co-branded credit cards are excluded. My garage cards are not co-branded. Anyway, what is the difference?
I believe Standard Bank misled me, and I'm sure many others will feel the same way. I actually looked for the catch, and could not find it. But they caught me! This specific clause is only found when going through quite a number of pages, and then it does not clearly state what can not be used, and what can. It just states card purchases.
Natasha tried her best, called me a few times due to dropped calls, but I think this requires a higher level of attention.
