Last Wednesday morning I did some grocery shopping at Spar, it came to about R1200. I paid by my FNB card. I put my pin in and the lady told me that the transaction failed due to an error with their card machine. I had received 2 messages from FNB InContact, informing me of the purchase at Spar, and then the reversal. ONLY because I received the message from FNB stating the amount had gone through. I therefore happily redid the transaction at Spar. The next day I noticed that my available balance was much lower than it should have been. I phoned FNB to find out what was going on. The consultant I spoke to informed me that I had been double debited from Spar, I was told that I had to go into Spar to sort out the problem and that FNB could do nothing. I went into Spar and the manager was very helpful and said that they would sort out the issue. I was then contacted by someone at FNB (so Yes actually it was up to FNB to sort it out!!!) This money has been out of my account for a week now and I am actually furious. Why the did FNB send me a message saying it was reversed when it wasn't? and now taking so long to sort out the issue. I cannot afford to not have that money.
