On the 26 July 2013, my vehicle was involved in a collision. I immediately called King Price to arrange for the vehicle to be towed. I was told to allow the salvage company on site to tow the vehicle away to their yard (first mistake) I called and submitted the claim on Monday and heard nothing until I called to enquire about the status of the claim on Friday, 2 August. To my dismay, I was told that the vehicle is a write off. I requested the assessors report and found that all the prices listed on the report are highly inflated. I found that I could purchase the parts from the same supplier at a fraction of the cost. I forwarded this to William who came back to me saying that the decision stands. What amazes me is that the salvage company towed the vehicle to SMD which is were written off vehicles are towed to, how did the salvage company know that the vehicle would be written off. The damage on the vehicle is not bad at all. I obtained a quote from an approved panel beater which came out at R17000 less than the assessors report (56% of RV). I don't understand why King Price would rather pay R72k to write off the vehicle than R40k to repair. I suspect something sinister going on.
