Looking to open a new bank account, the first bank that popped into my head was FNB with all their great radio and TV ads. Much to my disappointment, it was NOT the same experience in the bank as on radio/TV.
I went to FNB Ermelo with all of my papers I needed to open a bank account and was told I couldn't open one because my proof of residence was not from the same area as Ermelo and they did not have signatures for the person that signed my document. My question is, how is that my problem? I was sent away saying I needed to go to Piet Retief FNB, after I drove an hour to Ermelo.
I thought all you needed to open a bank account was proof of residence (doesn't matter where you stay) and your ID and payslips.
Well needless to say, I went across the street and opened a bank account at Nedbank without any hassles. So FNB: Thanks for NOTHING.
