A student loan was obtained from ABSA in respect of my sisters studies. She finished her studies during 2012 and was requested by Marie Burger of ABSA during April, 2013 to provide her with proof of contract (contract of articles), copy of id and copy of the surety's id. Same was emailed to Marie Burger via email on 29 April 2013 and also handed in at the ABSA Potchefstroom branch on 10 April, 2013. To my surprise ABSA has now proceeded to deduct the monthly repayment of the studentloan and not the minimum payment of interest as has been the case. ABSA has been contacted and alleges that they never received any proof of same, thus the reason for the repayment of the student loan and not just the payment of interest. I have at no stage been contacted by ABSA and advised of same, nor have I been sent any correspondence confirming same. The student is busy with articles and as such still entitled to only repay the interest.
