Weeks ago I called for car insurance and was offered a deal. In this deal that I accepted, it was mentioned that the joining fee (between R200-R300) would fall away.
As the amount for insurance for the remainder of the month was pro rata, a fairly high amount was deducted off my account.
In the days following this phone call, I decided to change insurers (more cost effective), and by then it was too late to change the deduction from my account. That's all fine, BUT, the amount was higher than I expected.
So I called to see why, and it turns out that the joining fee was included too. I told the respondent about the fact that I was told I would get the joining fee waved in order to seal the deal. The person had to find the original recorded phone call or person to validate this.
I have not heard back from Outsurance, even after I laid a complaint via their website.
