Standard Bank Homeloans a shocking experience

My husband and I are venturing on the daunting task of looking for a home. We have gone through the pre approval and signed an OTP on the 7th January. We e mailed all our documents and phoned home loans continuously to check the status of our application. We contacted the home loans (After being told all calls are recorded...) And confirmed that there is NO OUTSTANDING DOCUMENTATION from our side. We were then told 5-10 working days to get the final decision. We followed up every second day on application number (Ref: 4300922 [SR Ref No : 31474949]) - we stressed numerous times the urgency. We were told we could expect a final decision on Friday 18th January. I was in meetings all day, received no calls and decided to follow up on Monday morning. I was politely told the application has been CLOSED (due to missing documentation??!) no one bothered to tell us that for a week we were phoning, and have probably lost any opportunity of purchasing the house. The best is I requested a supervisor listen to the tapes, where they confirmed all documentation is in order and get back to me. To date, not even an SMS. Simpler? Better? Faster? I think not. the service was pathetic.
