Incorrectly billed for Subscription

I joined Diner's Club about 3 months ago. I was told about all the "great" benefits this will hold in for me and as a Standard Bank Prestige client, I was told that this service is free. As I had nothing to lose, I decided to join Diner's club.

I have tried to use the card but my attempts were unsuccessful and I assumed the card was faulty. I have phoned the call centre to inform them that the card is faulty, and they told me that the card is not active. After that I have not used the card at all. Today, however I have received an invoice for the yearly subscription fee and additional interest charged due to the fact that I have not paid my account. First and foremost, the card is supposed to be "inactive" so I am charged for absolutely nothing? Second of all, I am a Standard Bank Prestige Client, so this service is a complimentary free service?

Now I have received a final notice to pay an account of R618 before end of today.

I cannot describe my utter disappointment regarding this whole matter.

I am not the type of person who drags my name through debt mud.

I would like this to be resolved and this service should be discontinued as speedily as possible.
