We filed a claim for hail damage which occurred on 12 April 2013. The bank sent their own assessor, we were not satisfied with his findings. A building engineer was sent out and another assessor from Bloemfontein. The quote received from a building contractor was R 265 000.00 damage. The bank offered a cash settlement of R 70 000.00 which we rejected. The damage caused exceeds by far the offer. It's been 3 months, we have no carpets, the kitchen cupboards are unsafe, and the roof is curling up and falling down. After numerous attempts of negotiations with the insurance consultants and the managers (Bloemfontein & Welkom branches), we were informed by the ABSA branch manager, the claim had apparently been successfully completed. A complaint number, 2387120 was lodged at telephone number (0800) 414 141. We were informed as above, the matter had been resolved and he could not helped any further. It has been 3 months living like refugees in our own home and nothing has been done. Latest news received was that we could be waiting until December to be helped. Does anyone have GOOD advise, as we are thoroughly angry and dissapointed with the service received from ABSA?
