On Wednesday 10 July 2013 I went to the local Standard Bank branch with an unusual request. I needed to obtain my old Autobank card number in order to view an encrypted provisional bank statement.
What made the request so unusual was that I had stopped being a client of Standard Bank in February this year and that I had lost my Autobank card in about the 3rd quarter of last year so the number that I needed was not the most recent on the system.
Mrs Erna Slater at the Enquiries Counter (no relation :-) ) tried for a few minutes to find this out on the system but the process was taking a long time so she took down my cell number and promised to call me back the next day with the number if she was able to find it.
Yesterday I received voice mail from her with the number that I thought I needed. I say thought because I then realised that I had replaced my Autobank card in about March last year as it was damaged and that the Autobank card number I needed was even older.
I went into the branch today and explained to Erna the situation. Not an hour later she phoned me back and I now have the number I needed! Thank you Erna!
