My vehicle is insured for and premiums paid on 180k, it was completely burnt and written off. The assessor only approved a payout of 60k. I requested that the vehicle be replaced but was turned down as replacement cost will be -140k to 160k. I get a bill from Santam's approved supplier for debris removal for 24k which they do not want to pay and the assessor has recommended Santam to subtract from my 60k settlement and pay the approvved supplier. I requested numerous comparative quotes for the debris removal which none are more than 3k.
On another claim, this time with First for Women - The tyres on my wife's car where slashed, insurers sent us a quote to replace for 30k, less excess and betterment they are only going to pay 7k. Then a few months later they changed that to 4k because they get a 10% from approved suppliers.
Are the 'INSURERS', 'ASSESSORS' and 'APPROVED SUPPLIERS' working together at the expense of the South African people, their clients.

I'm sure if there are enough complaints the Ombudsman and Competition Commission will investigate.
