I went to my local Standard Bank ATM in Seaview Port Elizabeth to withdraw money for my rent. This is the only Standard Bank ATM within a 30 km radius from my house and it is almost always out of order. This ATM is also known to swallow cards. I have lost three ATM cards at this ATM before and reported it but nothing happens. So I went to the only other ATM in Seaview and its an ABSA ATM. So I put my card in the ATM insert my pin and select R1000.00 the ATM starts doing its thing and all of a sudden just stops. The ATM spits out my card and a slip saying the transaction was unsuccessful and will be reversed automatically yet I receive an sms that said it was successful. I went in to standard bank to file a complaint two months later Standard bank says my complaint was unsuccessful. I then filed a complaint to Standard Bank JHB but nothing happens. I have all the proof ATM slip and my account statement and a witnesses that gave me a signed affidavit and stamped by the police to say I did not receive money from the ATM. I am at the point of closing all my accounts at Standard Bank. I will also be contacting my lawyer regarding this matter.
