STRUGGLING FOR 7 MONTHS TO CLOSE CREDIT CARD ACC

I requested a settlement amount from African Bank for both my loan and credit card balance on 13 Nov 2012, paid up both on 14 Nov 2012 and requested Afr Bank to close both accounts. Loan acc was closed but not credit card account. After almost 8 months of querries, complaints and visits to the Wellington branch, they again deducted R510, 00 from my Standard bank account yesterday. I have even been warned by African Bank about my credit record suffering by my "non-payment" of this PAID-UP account and have been threatened with legal action!! The previous time, before my visit this morning, the manager at the branch assured me that it would be sorted out and that I cannot be held responsible for any costs running up on this account. The staff at the Welllington branch have been very helpful and friendly, but they seem to have run out of ideas about this situation as well. They have lodged numerous complaints and querries, to no avail. How do I go on from here? I am appalled at the poor service from the African Bank Credit Card Division!!
